Although these dogs are easy to care for and do not tend to be aggressive, they are not recommended for inexperienced owners. Attention and playing are the fuel without which they will stop functioning. It is not the kind of dog who spends most of the day sleeping. If you are considering the possibility of purchasing a puppy, you must be ready to sacrifice much of your time for your four-legged companion. Firm consistent training guarantees good behavior in the pet; without it the dog may become dominating and difficult to control.

When buying a puppy, do pay attention to the breeder and choose the right one. He or she must have all documents on hand, which entitle him/her to take part in breeding programs. True breeders do not keep their pups in large quantities in backyard cages. Do not buy puppies from pet stores, where they probably arrive from dollar-oriented ‘puppy mills.’ There you are very likely to come across a faulty or ill animal, which can be prone to various diseases.
