Boxers Breeders - History

Boxers originated in Germany in the 19th century. It carries blood of the English Bulldog and the Bullenbeisser, as well as blood of some Terriers.

Naturally enough, the dog inherited its appearance and qualities from these very breeds. The Bulldog is believed to have contributed to the Boxer's noble and determined looks. Diligence and powers of endurance also seem to come from its English ancestor.

As for Terriers, their genes have surely supplied Boxers with alertness, ability to immediately grasp what the owner expects them to do, and a mild, elegant appearance.

The name "boxer" is British. These dogs use their front legs when fighting. The breed gained popularity during the Second World War, when it served as a military and police dog.

Boxers Breeders - General Appearance

Boxers have an impressive air of strength and dignity. A muscular body and square bulldog-type muzzle characterize the dog. The Boxer's gait is energetic and elastic. The coat is short and shiny. Fawn and brindle are the acceptable colors in Boxers. White markings are permissible. The tail is docked and the ears are cropped. The eyes are dark brown. Boxers are courageous and alert. They make excellent guardians and faithful family friends.
